Geography Specialist

As a Geographer, I study the physical, human, and cultural characteristics of California and Nevada and how its topographical characteristics interact across the state's diverse landscapes. As a Geographer I examine everything from the state's complex topography—mountains, deserts, valleys, and coastlines—to patterns of human settlement, economic activity, migration, and social inequality across regions.

I analyze how geography shapes and is shaped by human behavior, investigating questions like why cities develop where they do, how climate change affects water resources and agriculture, how environmental degradation impacts vulnerable communities, and how cultural identity ties to place.

Being a naturalist, and a Geogrpaher means adopting a distinctive perspective that sees the world through the lens of nature, space, scale, and human-environment relationships; it involves fieldwork, data analysis, and critical thinking to understand the intricate connections between natural systems and human societies.

As a Geographer I am part scientist, part social scientist, and part storyteller. I create and use maps, statistics, interviews, and qualitative research to illuminate how geography matters in people's everyday lives and in shaping regional and global systems. In California and Nevada specifically, this work is particularly rich given the state's incredible environmental diversity, massive population, economic importance, and the urgent challenges it faces around sustainability, equity, and adaptation.

As a Naturalist

I explore and emerse myself in the natural world to understand the intricate connections between plants, animals, and their ecosystems. As a cyclist and nature tour guide I teach others about the wilderness on foot to experience the physical and mental clarity of the outdoors. As a bicyclist I use a bike as a tool for transportation, fitness, or exploration.

As a Bike Mechanic

I repair a variety of differnt bikes, from e-bikes to mountain bikes, I can diagnose mechanical failures then can perform precision maintenance to keep various cycles safe and efficient.

To be someone who embodies all these roles is to live as a steward of both the environment and the machinery that allows people to access it. By combining the keen ecological eye of a naturalist and the endurance of a cyclist with the technical skill to repair everything from vintage frames to complex e-bike electrical systems, I am such a person who bridges the gap between nature and technology, ensuring that local cyclists can sustainably and reliably navigate the landscapes they seek to protect and admire.
